Two months property tax protection scheme 2020-21 announced from 15th December
Navi Mumbai : Property tax is the main source of income for the corporation and this year, due to the backlog of Covid, property tax collection has been less than every year and citizens are also facing difficulties in paying taxes including arrears. Therefore, to provide financial relief to the citizens, Municipal Commissioner Mr. Abhijeet Bangar has taken an important decision to announce ‘Malmattakar Abhay Yojana 2020-21‘. This will not only increase the revenue of the corporation but also provide financial relief to the citizens who are in arrears.
The benefit of Abhay Yojana will be available to the property tax arrears for a period of two months from 15th December 2020 to 15th February 2021. This is a lucrative scheme for arrears with a rebate of up to 75% on the penalty amount of arrears of property tax. In the period of two months declared in it, if the arrears citizen pays the entire arrears of property tax plus 25% penalty amount, 75% penalty amount will be waived. They will have to pay this amount at once. Citizens should note that it cannot be filled in stages. Citizens should also take note of the fact that no extension will be given for the duration of the announced Abhay Yojana. Therefore, citizens are urged to avail the benefits of this scheme by paying the amount till 31st December without waiting till 15th February.
Special efforts will be made for recovery of arrears while implementing this Abhay Yojana and Courtesy Letter will be issued to each arrear. Citizens should take special note that Abhay Yojana will not be applicable to any amount paid before or after the commencement of Abhay Yojana.
No claim can be made under Abhay Yojana for refund of any amount paid before the commencement of this Abhay Yojana. The information of this Abhay Yojana will be widely disseminated to the public and various media such as banners, hoardings, social media will be used for this.
Applications for availing Abhay Yojana will be available on the Corporation’s website www.nmmc.gov.in as well as at all 8 Divisional Offices and Affiliate Payment Centers. Also, for payment under the scheme, there will be a facility to pay the amount by cash / check / cash at the Municipal Headquarters, all the 8 Divisional Offices as well as the attached payment centers. Apart from this special link of Abhay Yojana will be given on the website of the corporation http://www.nmmc.gov.in and also on the mobile app NMMC e-connect where Citizens can also be able to pay taxes online through debit card / credit card / internet banking / NEFT / RTGS.
As property tax is an important source of income of the corporation and from it the civic services are being fulfilled, the arrear citizens should take advantage of this Abhay Yojana and contribute to the development of the city.
