Mira Bhayander Municipal Corporation Cracks Down on Officers/Employees for Non-Submission of Accountability Statements

Date: July 25, 2023 : In a significant development, the Mira Bhayander Municipal Corporation has taken decisive action against officers and employees who failed to submit their accountability statements for the financial year 2022-2023. A total of 54 officers and employees from Class-01 to Class-03, excluding Class-04, have had their salaries withheld for the month of May 2023 due to non-compliance with the submission requirement.

The issue came to light when the corporation received a complaint regarding the non-submission of statements of opinion and liability by its officers and employees. The complaint raised concerns about transparency and accountability within the organization, prompting swift action from the authorities.

According to the Asst. Commissioner (G.A.D.) Sunil Yadav, a total of 1327 officers and employees were working for the corporation during the financial year 2022-2023. Out of this workforce, 411 officers and employees promptly submitted their Statement of Value and Liability by the specified deadline of May 31, 2023.

However, the remaining 58 officers and employees (comprising two suspended and two absent) failed to submit their accountability statements on time. As a consequence of their non-compliance, their salaries for the month of May 2023 were withheld. The suspended and absent employees were among those affected by the salary withholdings.

The officers and employees whose salaries were withheld were given an opportunity to rectify the situation by submitting their declarations of accountability. Once these declarations were received, the corporation promptly released the salaries for the month of May 2023 for the 54 officers and employees concerned.

The Mira Bhayander Municipal Corporation has taken this matter seriously as it believes in promoting transparency, ethics, and accountability in its functioning. Non-compliance with such fundamental requirements is considered a breach of trust and the corporation has taken a firm stance to ensure that all employees fulfill their responsibilities.

While the corporation has taken necessary actions to address this specific case, it also serves as a reminder to all officers and employees to be diligent in submitting their accountability statements and upholding the principles of good governance.

As the corporation continues its commitment to providing efficient public services, it seeks cooperation from all its employees to adhere to the established protocols and procedures. By fostering a culture of responsibility and integrity, the Mira Bhayander Municipal Corporation aims to set a standard of excellence for other organizations to follow.

It is important for all officers and employees to understand that compliance with accountability requirements is not merely a formality, but an essential component in maintaining the trust of the public they serve.
