Assam Government Officials Impressed by Navi Mumbai’s Exemplary Public Service Delivery System

Navi Mumbai :- A delegation from the Administrative Reforms and Personnel Administration Department of the Assam State Government recently concluded a study tour to explore the functioning of public services under the Maharashtra Public Service Rights Act 2015. Led by Shri. Panchali Kakati and Shri. Mitali Lahkar, Additional Secretary and Deputy Secretary respectively, the group visited the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation headquarters.

During the visit, the Konkan Divisional Commissioner of the State Service Rights Commission, Shri. Baldev Singh, expressed his contentment with the various public services provided by the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation. Out of the 51 public services offered, 28 are already accessible online, and Shri. Singh recommended an effort to increase this number further.

The study group, alongside Shri. Baldev Singh, learned about the Municipal Corporation’s public service delivery system and offered valuable suggestions. Present at the event were officials from the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation, including Additional Commissioner Shri. Sujata Dhole, City Engineer Mr. Sanjay Desai, and State Public Service Entitlement System Nodal Officer Shri. Sharad Pawar.

The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation has demonstrated a remarkable 98 percent success rate in delivering public services, processing 48,759 out of 49,520 applications received from April 2022 to March 2023. While the Corporation’s efforts are commendable, Shri. Baldev Singh emphasized the importance of striving for a perfect 100 percent success rate.

During their visit, Assam State Government officials engaged in discussions with Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation representatives, delving into the intricacies of the public service delivery process. The delegation also observed the functioning of the public services provided under the Public Service Rights Ordinance during a visit to the civic amenities center at the Vashi Vibha office.

The visit has not only facilitated knowledge exchange but also showcased the successful implementation of public service rights in Maharashtra. Shri. Baldev Singh expressed his hope that the nominated officer of the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation would be recognized for their contributions in this regard. The study tour serves as a positive step towards enhancing public service delivery systems across the country.
