Navi Mumbai :- Under the nationwide initiative “Swachhata Hi Seva,” various cleanliness-related programs are being conducted with active public participation. Among these programs, sanitation workers, who dedicate themselves to the daily task of keeping our cities clean, often neglect their own health. Sanitation workers tirelessly work towards maintaining the cleanliness of the city throughout all seasons. However, many times, they fail to prioritize their own health. To ensure their well-being and that of their families, the municipal commissioner, Mr. Rajesh Narvekar, initiated the Sanitation Worker Health Camp with the support of the Solid Waste Management Department.

The Heart Foundation and Mediker Hospital collaborated to provide a wide range of health check-ups during the camp. These included blood pressure monitoring, diabetes screening, ECGs, bone mineral density tests, and more. Expert medical advice was also provided to the participants based on their test results.

A special feature of the event was the CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) demonstration, which could potentially save lives in case of a sudden cardiac event. This involved teaching participants how to administer CPR before medical professionals arrive on the scene.

The event received a warm welcome and commendation from additional municipal commissioners, Mr. Sujata Dhole, Chief Engineer Mr. Sanjay Desai, Deputy Commissioner of Solid Waste Management Dr. Babasaheb Rajale, and other officials, employees, and staff. They extended their best wishes to the sanitation workers for their good health.

Dr. Elias Jaykar, the head of the Heart Foundation, Dr. Kranti Yadav, and Dr. Sanjana Dama, along with their team, played a pivotal role in making this health camp a success. Their dedication and support were crucial in ensuring the well-being of those who work tirelessly to keep our city clean.

The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation’s commitment to the health and welfare of its sanitation workers and their families is evident through initiatives like these. “Swachhata Hi Seva” continues to be a beacon of hope for a cleaner and healthier future for all.
