Navi Mumbai :- In a bid to enhance cleanliness and civic responsibility in Navi Mumbai, Commissioner Shri Rajesh Narvekar has provided crucial directions to the city. Navi Mumbai stands out among cities in the state for its relentless pursuit of cleanliness, thanks to the active participation of its citizens. Not only does Navi Mumbai strive for cleanliness within its boundaries, but it also has significant expectations from the state and central governments when it comes to sanitation and beautification projects.

Commissioner Shri Rajesh Narvekar has emphasized the need for increased efficiency in cleanliness initiatives, urging authorities to work diligently. He has instructed additional commissioners, department heads, nodal officers, department officials, and executive engineers through online web conferences to ensure the effective implementation of sanitation programs.

To raise awareness about the non-usage of plastic during current festivals and events, a vigorous campaign for the prohibition of plastic usage has been initiated. The Commissioner emphasized the removal of unauthorized congratulatory banners and the need to prevent the city’s defacement. In line with this, he has called for a rigorous campaign against illegal congratulatory banners during the festival season.

The Commissioner has also instructed for the regular maintenance of Navi Mumbai’s lakes, particularly those areas which have been affected. This includes cleaning water bodies, nets, screens, and water entries along roads. Special attention has been drawn to keep canals and water bodies clean, ensuring that they are utilized four times a day.

Regarding waste disposal vehicles, Commissioner Shri Rajesh Narvekar has directed the inspection of waste collection and disposal, including proper categorization and transportation. Large societies in Navi Mumbai, along with the waste management project, have been instructed to maintain compost pits in gardens, and processing plants are to be monitored closely.

In the business and commercial sectors, the cleanliness drive is a top priority. As part of ongoing festivals and market area purchases, the Commissioner has stated that market areas must remain consistently clean. Litter bins, stickers, and the overall cleanliness should be given utmost importance in these places.
