Navi Mumbai’s Scholastic Sports Heroes Set to Shine in Divisional Contest

Navi Mumbai :- The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation is proud to announce the remarkable achievement in the District-Level Scholastic Sports Competition. In accordance with the sports curriculum set by the Maharashtra government, all municipal corporations in the state have earned recognition for conducting scholastic sports competitions within their respective regions. Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation has been honored with this recognition, and as a result, they are now organizing district-level sports competitions in their area under the aegis of the Sports and Cultural Department.

The inauguration of this year’s district-level scholastic sports competition for the academic year 2023-2024 was held with great enthusiasm under the auspices of Mr. Rajesh Narvekar, the Municipal Commissioner. The competition took place at the Airoli Sports Association Indoor Hall in Airoli.

A total of 720 boys and 379 girls from 96 schools in the age groups of 14, 17, and 19 enthusiastically participated in this scholastic sports competition. The event commenced with the gracious presence of Ms. Lalita Babar, an international athlete and Deputy Director of Sports and Cultural Department, who motivated the participants and extended her best wishes. Airoli Sports Association played a significant role by providing excellent facilities and support to the athletes, earning well-deserved praise.

The competition saw an increase in the number of student participants compared to the previous year, leading to the recognition of Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation’s efforts in promoting scholastic sports within the district. The event was not only about competition but also about fostering a healthy and competitive spirit among the athletes. Coaches, mentors, and parents were also commended for their support and encouragement.

In the 14-year-old boys category:

  4. Sonakshi Pankaj Mahajan – New Bombay City School (CBSE).

In the 17-year-old boys category:

  1. Madhav Menon – Podar International School, Nerul.
  2. Divyanshu Ranjan – Delhi Public School, Nerul.

In the 17-year-old girls category:

All these outstanding athletes, who emerged victorious at the district level, have secured their place in the upcoming Mumbai Divisional Scholastic Sports Competition. Mr. Rajesh Narvekar, Municipal Commissioner, congratulated them and extended his best wishes for their future endeavors in the divisional competition.
