Cleanliness Drive Initiatives Across India in Commemoration of Mahatma Gandhi’s Birth Anniversary

New Delhi :- In the spirit of “Swachhata Hi Seva” (Cleanliness is Service), several cleanliness initiatives are set to take place across India in the coming days. These programs aim to promote cleanliness and sanitation, aligning with the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan 2.0 campaign and in honor of Mahatma Gandhi’s birthday.

  1. Swachhata Pandhara (September 15 – October 2, 2023):
    Under the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan 2.0, organized by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA), a special cleanliness drive known as “Swachhata Pandhara” is being conducted from September 15th to October 2nd, 2023.
  2. One Date – One Hour Initiative (October 1, 2023):
    On October 1, 2023, as part of the “Swachhata Hi Seva” campaign, citizens are encouraged to dedicate one hour from 10:00 AM to participate in cleanliness activities on Gandhi Jayanti.
  3. Citizen Participation Portal:
    The central government has provided a platform at swachhatahiseva.com for citizens to register their participation and select their preferred cleanup locations.
  4. Upload Your Cleanup Success (October 1, 2023):
    Participants are encouraged to upload photos and videos of their cleanliness efforts on the portal before 4:00 PM on October 1, 2023.
  5. Gandhi Jayanti Celebrations (October 2, 2023):
    On Mahatma Gandhi’s birth anniversary, various programs, including morning processions, tributes, rangoli, and honoring sanitation workers, will be organized across the nation.

These initiatives collectively demonstrate India’s commitment to cleanliness and sanitation, carrying forward the vision of Mahatma Gandhi and contributing to a cleaner and healthier India.
