Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation Honors 275 Sanitation Workers with PPE Kits

Navi Mumbai :- The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation, under its “Cleanliness is Service” campaign, is consistently organizing various events to acknowledge the diligent work of sanitation workers. In this regard, 275 sanitation workers were recently honored at a special ceremony held at the headquarters. These workers, known as “Safai Mitras,” have been recognized for their dedicated service to maintaining cleanliness.

The Safai Mitra Safety Camp was inaugurated by Additional Commissioner Shri M. Sujata, City Engineer Shri Sanjay Desai, and Dr. Babasaheb Rajale, Deputy Commissioner of the Sanitation and Management Department, along with other officials. Dr. Rajale, who also serves as the Nodal Officer for Swachh Bharat Mission, praised the dedication and commitment of Safai Mitras, highlighting their crucial role in Navi Mumbai’s cleanliness.

Navi Mumbai Municipal Commissioner Shri Rajesh Narvekar expressed his gratitude towards these workers and encouraged them to continue their exceptional work during various national programs. He emphasized the importance of building self-confidence among the labor force while giving them priority in safety.

In this event, 194 machines used for mechanized cleaning were distributed to Safai Mitras. Furthermore, 275 Safai Mitras were recognized and awarded with certificates and tokens of appreciation in the form of photo frames. They also received safety kits, including helmets, reflecting jackets, gloves, goggles, and shoes, provided through the CSR fund of KTM Foundation. The next step involves organizing training camps for Safai Mitras to enhance their technical knowledge.

This recognition not only honors these hardworking individuals but also serves as an inspiration for them to continue their efforts in maintaining cleanliness and hygiene in Navi Mumbai.
