Vasai-Virar :- The Vasai-Virar City Municipal Corporation has introduced a series of welfare programs for differently-abled individuals through its Differently Abled Welfare Department, effective from October 31, 2023.
The key highlights of these plans include:
- Monthly financial assistance of ₹1,000 for individuals with disabilities ranging from 40% to 59%.
- Monthly financial assistance of ₹1,500 for individuals with disabilities ranging from 60% to 79%.
- Monthly financial assistance of ₹2,000 for individuals with disabilities ranging from 80% to 100%.
- Senior citizens above 60 years with disabilities will receive a monthly grant of ₹2,000.
- Support for self-employment ventures, with grants up to ₹50,000, tailored to the individual’s business.
- Financial support of ₹2,000 per month to family members of disabled individuals aged 18 and above with determination and potential.
- Competitive athletes with disabilities can receive grants of ₹10,000 at the taluka level, ₹25,000 at the district level, ₹50,000 at the state level, and ₹1,00,000 at the international level.
- Financial assistance covering 25% of medical expenses for those with severe illnesses or requiring surgery.
These plans aim to allocate over ₹2.35 crore for nearly 1,997 differently-abled beneficiaries. Additionally, the municipality plans to extend these benefits to a wider range of differently-abled individuals in the Vasai-Virar region.
To facilitate the application process and reach out to a broader audience, camps have been organized in various areas as per the list below:
- A – Balaji
- B – Nallasopara
- C – Chandansar
- D – Achole
- E – Nallasopara (East)
- F – Pelhar
- G – Waliv
- H – Navghar-Manikpur
- I – Vasai
These camps are set to take place between November 3, 2023, and November 5, 2023, from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
Previously registered differently-abled beneficiaries in the Vasai-Virar Municipal Corporation are requested to submit their applications and necessary documents to benefit from these initiatives.
