Mira Bhayandar Municipal Corporation Launches Special Cleanliness Drive Under Swachh Bharat Mission 2023

Mira Bhayandar :– In a concerted effort to promote cleanliness and sanitation, the Mira Bhayandar Municipal Corporation (MBMC) organized a special cleanliness drive under the Swachh Bharat Mission 2023. The initiative, spanning nine days, commenced on October 26, 2023, and witnessed the active participation of various municipal officials, employees, and citizens.

The event was inaugurated by Mr. Sanjay Shripatrav Katkar (IAS), Municipal Commissioner and Administrator of MBMC, who personally led two teams in different areas. The first team, guided by Additional Municipal Commissioner Aniket Manorkar, was responsible for cleanliness from S.K. Stone to Delta Garden, while the second team, led by Additional Municipal Commissioner Sambhaji Panpate, focused on cleanliness from Delta Garden to S.K. Stone.

The special cleanliness drive saw the participation of several high-ranking officials, including Mr. Ravi Pawar, Mr. Maruti Gayakwad, Mr. Sanjay Shinde, and Ms. Kalpita Pimpale. Additionally, various departments, with the support of around 350 to 400 employees, actively contributed to this mission. Ten teams from different departments, sanitation workers, and department heads worked together to clean various areas within Prabhag No. 06.

The extensive efforts included direct cleaning by department heads, removal of stickers, anti-littering actions, sanitation of public restrooms, cleaning of monuments and statues, and repair of damaged trash bins. This comprehensive initiative aimed to beautify the city through tasks such as cleaning open plots, repairing water bodies, and enhancing the cleanliness of public spaces and gardens.

The campaign, which ran from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM daily, resulted in the collection of 50 kilograms of plastic waste. Offenders faced fines, and an amount of ₹2,10,250 was collected through penalties. So far, 354 kilograms of plastic waste have been confiscated, yielding ₹8,44,700 in fines.

The special cleanliness drive is set to continue until October 27, 2023, with the entire city expected to benefit from the initiative. The success of this program heavily relies on the active involvement of citizens who are encouraged to contribute to the city’s cleanliness. Municipal Commissioner and Administrator Mr. Sanjay Shripatrav Katkar (IAS) extended an invitation to all residents to actively participate and make a meaningful impact on the cleanliness of Mira Bhayandar.
